UNKNOWN PHOTOGRAPHERS

Here I have researched into slow shutter speed landscape photography. I have found various images from unknown photographers and despite their anonymity, I am still going to take inspiration from these images and apply it in my own work. I have decided to research this style of work to link to my project theme of 'playing through life' as there are still subjects in the images and subjects moving around them which helps to highlight the fact that the world continues to move around us.

I am going to conduct a landscape shoot focusing on movement within crowds of people and concentrate on capturing a busy city scene.

This is an image created by an unknown photographer. It is of a busy street station entrance capturing passers by using a slow shutter speed camera setting. In the image the subject (the girl in the centre) is the only part of the image that is in focus, thus immediately drawing your eye towards her.

The way that everything around the subject is out of focus creates an interesting and abstract effect and the people around her create a flowing feel in the image.

The tone of the image is quite dark and grey creating an eerie feel. The image also makes you question whether the girl is stood there for a reason or what her purpose is for being there. The way that the people are moving also gives a ghostly feel.

The angle of view is slightly looking down on the subject and passers by so that you can determine the surroundings. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the centre of the image towards the subject.

This is another image from an unknown photographer, again of a crowd using a slow shutter speed camera setting. The idea behind the image, I believe, is to show the movement of people in a busy environment by capturing a blur of moving bodies.

The tone is quite dark in this image as it is in black and white this makes the image quite dark and there are no particular shadows within the image.

The image has been shot using a high camera angle looking down onto the crowd of busy people. The image to me seems as though it has been taken in a train station due to the signs and nature of the shot. The image also looks as though it was taken some time ago due to the clothing of the people and environment the image was taken in.

There is no particular subject matter in this image but your eyes are immediately drawn to the three men stood inn the lower left hand corner of the image, these people are the only ones in focus compared to the crowd of people who are out of focus. I think this gives the image more depth and makes it more interesting to look at. The mood of the piece is loud, in a way that if the image had sound it would be the sound of people talking and the sound of trains entering and leaving the station. I think the image could also portray a sense of loneliness in a way that you could be one person in a massive crowd of people, probably not being noticed.
