ALBELARDO MORELL

To move on in my project I have decided to look deeper into my theme of 'Playing through life' and look at individuals and their perspective of life. To begin this part I have researched the photographer Alberlardo Morell. Morell is well known in the photographic community for creating camera obscura images in various places around the world and photographing these. One of his projects 'Childhood' looks at the idea of seeing the world from a child's point of view. I am going to take inspiration from this project and conduct my own photoshoot looking at the same concept.

This is a photographic image by Abelardo Morell. It is a still life image from a documentary set of images. The photographer has taken the image from a child’s point of view, bending down and angling the camera up, making the toy in the image appear bigger than it actually is, to a child this toy would seem really big. The photographer wanted to portray how the child would see and be intrigued in something that to them is really exciting but to us its something simple which is meaningless in an adults eyes. There is a really dark tone to this image as it is black and white, it gives the image an almost dark feel and changes the mood that the toy would normally give of which would be happy and bright and changes it completely giving it a more melancholy feel. The location the image was shot in was at a home, this is the location that this situation would normally be seen, giving the image a more realistic feel. Your eye is immediately drawn to the toy as the background around it is not in focus. The image makes you look at the subject differently due to the colours used and the angle that the photographer has taken the image. This is an image form a larger body of work, all looking at 'a child’s perspective'
