BIRMINGHAM
To continue with my project, I visited the city of Birmingham. Whilst I was there I took some landscape images but this time focused on more city-based shots, to contrast with the more natural scenic images from my first photo shoot. I looked at old buildings, examples of interesting architecture and also took images to capture the busy city life. The latter of these images enabled me to look more into movement within my images, which reflect my theme of 'play' I also took some of the images at night whilst I was there to experiment with the colour and lighting which became more visible in the darkness.

This is one of my most successful images that I have taken from this shoot. Here I experimented with night photography. I focused on the colours of the statue in the foreground of the image which contrasted with the buildings in the background. This composition almost makes the buildings seem natural in comparison with the statue because of its blue colouring. I wanted the image to be more of an art based piece to differ from standard landscape photographs which aren't as interesting to look at. The main focus of the image is on the top half of the photograph which immediately draws your eye towards it, because of the vivid colour of the statue and architectural structure of the man building. I am pleased with the result of this image.
If I were to re-photograph the image I would focus on to creating more colour and movement within the images and experiment more with different shutter speeds and exposures.

This is another successful image from this shoot. This time I focused on more of a wider landscape shot, looking the buildings and lights and the way they contrast with the dark night sky. I am happy with the result of this image as it is in focus and has good composition. I like the way the buildings appear almost stretched compared to the figures in the foreground.
To progress, I am going to continue to look at landscape images and link to my theme of 'play' by looking at how the world is constantly moving around us. To portray this, I am going to look at stop motion photography and create a stop motion of the sun setting, which will show movement in the piece and link to the idea that the world continues around us whether we pay attention or not.
